I've been in this frame of thought lots of times over the past couple of years on my blog and so I totally understand where you're coming from.

Even still, I don't have a gigantic base of followers or hundreds of comments like some blogs have, but it always comes back to WHY I write.

For me, it's a testiment of my life. It's the story of my life. Yes, I do share every personal detail and photos. I don't share the fear of doing so because for one thing, I write in the newspaper once a month about the same types of subjects and so everything is already out there for all to see. I'm a public figure in the area that I live. If someone really wants to be a stalker, or otherwise, I suppose they'll do it, but that could happen regardless of the blog, or newspaper column, and so I don't live in fear of such things. I just live my life and write.

So, my blog is about my family, reminiscing about the past, and as I have on there - writing down the stories to preserve them for future generations. My husband is actively saving each and every blog, so that all will be printed out like a book. A book that I will pass on to my daughter and hopefully she will do the same for her children. The legacy of my life will then go on.

So, that's why I do what I do. Only you can answer why you started your blog and what direction it might go. I know that I've enjoyed getting to know you here and I enjoy what you write about.

You have so much going on!! I don't envy moving having done it several times and also helping my parents a couple of times, but at the same time, it will be such a time of excitement with your new home and how fun to shop for bedding, carpeting, etc.,

Ahhh - Computer problems. My husband knows them well on our home office machine. He's redone that computer so many times, I can't even remember the number.

He bought daughter and I both wireless laptops for Christmas, among too many other things to mention. He spoils us. :) But we're enjoying the laptops so much - I didn't think I would, but it's great to just pull it out no matter where we are in the house, and type away....

Happy New Year! I had forgotten to check on your blog since there had been a break in the action and now I see I've missed a lot! :)

You're always very busy. I enjoy your lists of happenings.

I never make resolutions because I feel that any day of the year is a good time for a change or new start - don't need a new year to do that.

I actually didn't gain any weight over the holidays, because I just eat normal stuff, I don't like baked goods that much, and my walking keeps up year round, even through the snow and icy season. You're so thin though, I imagine a couple of pounds won't make a difference and you'll have them gone in no time. It's different when one is 45 - maintaining the same weight for many years is my accomplishment. Had a doctor's visit this week and received a glorious bill of good health. He said that the metabolism slowing down is one thing can't do much about, but just to keep up the good work.

That is a great thing to collect. I have a large shoebox full of tin cookie cutters. The copper ones are so much nicer. My mom recently passed her older Tupperware cookies cutters on to me. I love them. They are the ones I remember using with her when I was little.

No baking here because I rarely do that and I don't care for cookies much, but we do have the cold weather as well. Our high yesterday was around 15 degrees and the wind chill well below zero. Still, I love walking in the winter and still manage the 3 mile lunchtime walk through the ice and snow (though we don't have any snow yet in east-central Illinois) :-)

I hope you have a really great weekend. I'm like you - I always finish up shopping early - actually end of November is my goal, but I normally run to the beginning of December. It takes the edge off and makes things so much less stressful so that one can really settle in and enjoy the holidays.

I wish I had a treadmill, even if it was in a shop! I haven't run at all since the relay last week. And I could use some help getting that cookie weight off too!

I am supposed to have a dress-up Christmas party with some friends tonight too, but it's in Portland and they're predicting snow and freezing rain to hit Portland tonight...so I doubt I get to go.

A Wonderful Life is a great movie! I'd never seen it before a few years ago but I liked it a lot.

You have some lovely traditions!

Funny but we've never decorated a tree together - not growing up and not now. Daughter hangs 4 ornaments and quickly tires of it and I'm left working on it alone for several evenings. It's okay though, because my husband handles most all of the outdoor lights on his own.

We've always stayed home on Christmas - from the time I was a little girl and still. Growing up at home, we wouldn't even get out of our pajamas until late in the day and it took us all morning to open presents. We never had a big Christmas meal either - just snacky foods all day, whenever we wanted.

I've changed some of that tradition and now cook a Christmas meal. But I have happy memories of our traditions as well and I too, hope my daughter will have those happy memories when she grows up.

Happy Thanksgiving! Your menu is very similar to mine, except I never have ham, and no one likes traditional stuffing in our family, so I make pineapple stuffing separate from the turkey.

We never have a crowd for Thanksgiving - my sisters all spend all holidays with their husband's families and so, it's just always my husband and I, along with my parents who live next door. Sometimes, my daughter is here - every other holiday, but this Thanksgiving she is with her Dad (we get Christmas this year).
